Last week, the British car manufacturer was the victim of a cyber attack. It is now clear that some data was stolen during the attack.

Customer data may have been stolen in the cyber attack against the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover. The company announced that, following ongoing investigations, it is assumed that “some data” has been affected.

“Our forensic investigations are continuing apace and we will contact affected individuals if we determine that their data has been compromised,” reads the statement from the company, which is part of the Indian Tata Motors Group. A few days ago, there was no evidence that customer data had been stolen.

Operation still disrupted

Last week, Jaguar Land Rover suffered severe disruption to production and sales due to the cyber attack. Production is still suspended in some places, the PA news agency reported. The company is working around the clock to get operations back up and running as quickly as possible.

The car manufacturer did not initially disclose who might be behind the cyber attack. Several large British companies and institutions have recently been the target of sometimes devastating cyberattacks, including the Marks and Spencer department store chain and the British Library.
