Apple is apparently preparing a significant change to its product strategy: The iPhone maker is planning to split the launch of its iPhone 18 range, expected in 2026, into two phases, The Information reports, citing supply chain sources.

According to current information, the Pro versions of the iPhone 18 will be launched in fall 2026, while the more affordable iPhone 18 models, together with a new version of the iPhone 16e, will not follow until spring 2027. This strategy is a clear departure from the previous release rhythm, in which Apple traditionally presents all new iPhone models in the fall.

Further new products in preparation

In addition to this staggered introduction, there are other exciting developments: A new foldable iPhone could also be launched in the fall of 2026, according to the report. This would mark Apple’s first entry into the growing foldable segment, which has so far been dominated by Samsung, Google and Chinese manufacturers.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is already planning to launch a slimmer smartphone model this year, which according to rumors could be called the “iPhone 17 Air”. The Information reports that Apple also wants to launch a successor to this model in 2026.

Production strategy under Trump’s influence

Another interesting aspect: Apple is apparently planning to relocate production of the cheaper iPhone 18 models to India on a trial basis. The aim is to reduce dependence on China for production, as the tariffs introduced by the Trump administration are affecting the company’s profit margins.
