UNITE uses a deep learning model
A team of researchers at the University of California Riverside has developed an AI that reliably recognizes sophisticated deepfakes. Unlike previous technologies, the system not only analyzes faces, but the entire video footage in order to expose fake videos.

An unknown individual apparently impersonated US Secretary of State Marco Rubio with deceptively real audio and text messages on the messenger Signal. The aim of the campaign was to influence politicians in the USA and abroad. This is an extremely worrying example of the growing threat posed by deepfakes.

Increase in cases of fraud
According to the Flashpoint 2024 Global Threat Intelligence Report, hackers stole an almost unbelievable amount of information in 2023 alone: 17 billion pieces of personal data were compromised. This is four times more than in the previous year and affects millions of people.
