Cloud computing giant Salesforce is experiencing significant technical problems today, Tuesday. According to the reporting platform downdetector outage reports were received at around 11 am CEST. Complaints are also piling up on social networks.

The problems do not appear to be limited to a single country. The social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is seeing an increase in complaints from users from various countries who are reporting access difficulties and malfunctions.

Update 02.10.24, 11:36 AM (CEST): Salesforce issues have been resolved

The technical team has reviewed the affected instances and confirmed that customers should no longer experience any impacts. Salesforce plans to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident to determine the technical cause and develop preventive measures.

Update 01.10.24, 11:21 PM (CEST): Permanent solution in progress

Some users were able to access the Salesforce platform again. However, they reported extremely slow loading times. The company continues to work on a complete resolution of the problem: “We’re working to resolve a performance degradation issue that may also impact some customers’ ability to access Trust.” Trust is the website that provides real-time information on the status and performance of Salesforce services.

According to the status report, the impact radius is larger than initially assumed. Customers in the affected instances will receive communications regarding the incident.

According to Salesforce, as part of a permanent solution, an Emergency Release (ERR) will be implemented for all affected instances. During the deployment of the ERR, customers will experience a brief service interruption. Simultaneously, discussions are ongoing with the third-party vendor to create additional capacity, allowing the ERR to be implemented without further disruptions.

Even in the late hours after the outage, many users – especially via social media – are still complaining about problems. In the latest status update, Salesforce only states that the emergency release is progressing well for most affected instances.
