Music streaming giant Spotify experienced widespread disruptions today, leaving thousands of users across the United Kingdom and United States unable to access their favorite tracks and playlists.
According to monitoring website DownDetector, approximately 14,000 users in the United States reported issues with Spotify’s service, while around 4,000 users in the United Kingdom simultaneously experienced similar problems accessing the popular music streaming platform.
Frustrated users quickly took to social media and outage reporting sites to voice their concerns about the service disruption. Common complaints included:
- Automatic logouts with inability to sign back in
- Blank homepage displays when attempting to open the app
- Complete failure of desktop applications to launch properly
- Playback errors preventing music streaming
Spotify has not yet officially commented on the current disruption. The official Spotify status account on X has also not yet published any information about the outages. The cause of the technical problems therefore remains unclear for the time being.
